Overview

The Systems Architect – Storage Solutions is a pivotal role focused on designing and supporting implementation of storage and data backup solutions ensuring critical data management requirements are satisfied across public, private clouds and on-premises IT infrastructure, storage and data backup solutions ensuring scalability, performance, reliability, and security.

Responsibilities

• Co-design and support implementation of PBs-level block, object and file storage solutions as integral components of Cloud and HPC environments ensuring stability, performance and compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for requirements gathering, providing technical guidance, and ensuring alignment of strategy with business objectives.
• Collaborate with fellow architects and other platform engineering teams on storage and backup technology component evaluation, selection and solution design ensuring solutions are designed following best practices and are optimized from both functional and non-functional perspectives.
• Define roadmap for all storage solutions and services across the organization’s products portfolio.
• Define and support execution of disaster recovery strategies ensuring data integrity, availability, and protection across all platforms and environments.
• Support regular capacity planning exercises to anticipate and accommodate the growing demands on the storage infrastructure, ensuring it meets current and future requirements.
• Conduct regular reviews and audits of storage solutions architecture and configurations, identifying opportunities for optimization, consolidation, and risk mitigation.
• Prepare, review, and maintain high-level and low-level design documents, scope of work, BoQ/BoM and RFI/RFP/RFQ.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for requirements gathering, providing technical guidance, and ensuring alignment of strategy with business objectives.
• Design observability and Logging System in collaboration with the technology engineering team.
• Maintaining up-to-date information on all data centers, utilization of racks/units and planning the placement of servers, storage systems and different type of appliances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering or related degree in a technology discipline.
• 5+ of experience and deep expertise in designing, implementing, and managing storage solutions, including 3+ years of extensive experience in software-defined storage: block, file, and object storage systems.
• Advanced knowledge of backup systems, disaster recovery principles, and data protection strategies.
• Familiar with different storage protocols providing block, object and file storage interfaces such as iSCSI, S3, NFS, FC[oE], NVM over TCP, etc.
• Advance knowledge of the operating principles of storage system from vendors: HPe, Dell EMC, NetApp, Hitachi, IBM, PureStorage and VaST Data.
• Experience with implementing and operating object storage solutions based on SeaweedFS, MinIO, Cloudian HyperStore, Qumulo S3, Scality Ring, Dell ECS would be a significant advantage.
• Experience in designing and implementing geo-distributed and large-scale storage clusters.
• Experience with data encryption, security practices, and hardening related to Storage and Backup systems.
• Solid understanding of cloud native Backup solution for OpenStack (e.g.,Freezer, Karbor, TriliO, Hystax, Raksha etc) is highly desirable.
• Solid knowledge of Linux systems administration and scripting (Bash, Python, etc.).
• Understanding of modern API best practices (HTTP, REST, Swagger, gRPC).
• Experience with identity, access management, and authorization solutions (PKI, LDAP, OAUTH, OpenID)
• Knowledge of and experience in using architectural frameworks and methodologies such as TOGAF and Zachman.
• Demonstrated ability to create high-quality documentation and artifacts, including storage diagrams, design documents, and operational procedures.
• Proven track record of successfully completing large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Basic knowledge of ITSM frameworks such as ITIL.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Openness to continuous learning and adaptation in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
• Relevant certification in storage technologies and systems architecture are advantageous.
